A “CONFIDENT” presidential bet lashed at a reporter Tuesday when asked if he is using the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) for his election campaign.

"Shame on you. Shame on you. I consider the Philippine Red Cross sacred. My mother spent 63 years on Red Cross, ako 43 years," Gordon said.

He, however, told the reporter that "he wasn't mad" but was slightly offended.

Gordon said "his record should speak for itself."

The presidential candidate and his running mate, former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chair Bayani Fernando, paid a courtesy visit to City Council Tuesday to praise Davao for having given the biggest amount of donation for typhoon victims in Luzon last year.

Gordon, as PNRC chair, expressed gratitude to the local government for having donated P10,480,000 in cash for the benefit of victims of the typhoons and the great flooding that ensued after, affecting several cities in Luzon.
In an ambush interview, Gordon and Fernando each displayed their confidence in their tandem.

"Malaki ang ating pag-asa," Fernando said.

"I don't worry about ratings. I worry about educating the people in the conduct of our elections. The only survey I worry about is at the end of the election, if I worried about the surveys I would not be a senator today, I would not be the youngest member of the con-con," Gordon said.

"Sanay akong nakakarinig na hindi ko kaya pero nagagawa ko pa rin. Kung pinakinggan ko yang mga 'Hindi mo kaya yang color coding wala pang nakakagaa niyan sa pilipinas' o 'Hindi mo kayang gawin free port ang Subic. Nanakawin yan' pero nagawa ko," Gordon said.

Gordon said he can assure the city with an influx of investment if he be made president.

"Imagine tourism in Davao. It (has the potential to be) a big area in the Philippines and in the world. Imagine investments. I am known throughout the whole world. I can call prime ministers, organize things," he said.

Fernando, for his part, was not short in admitting "their visit was also to gather support."

"Oo eh, kasama na yon. Pagpaumanhin ako ni Mayor [Rodrigo] Duterte at ang Sangguniang Bayan [Municipal Council]. Sinasamantala na namin eh pagpasensyahan niyo na at napakalaki ng ating bansa para ikutin," Fernando said. (JCZ)
