CEBU, Philippines - Country’s first socio-political networking site announces its live chat for voters to ask their candidates directly about their platforms and other issues.

Socio-political networking site Politicalarena.com promotes voter education through its Live Chat that allows voters to ask their candidates directly about their stand on certain issues, platforms, plans once elected, and other concerns.

“With less than one hundred days until the national elections, voters are becoming more eager to participate in activities that allow them to interact with candidates,” said Racquel Cagurangan, general manager of Politicalarena.com.

Starting February 9, the site will be hosting live chats every Tuesday and Thursday at four timeslots: 4:00pm, 4:45pm, 7:45pm, and 8:30pm. For its pilot webcast, three of the eight senatorial candidates of Ang Kapatiran Party will entertain questions from viewers in the Live Chat section of politicalarena.com.

Lawyer Gracia Rinoza- Plazo, Col. Hector Tarrazona, and Atty. Zosimo Paredes will be online on different times to facilitate the questions from politicalarena.com’s members.

Councilor John Carlos “JC” de los Reyes, Ang Kapatiran Party’s standard-bearer, will also entertain questions from the site’s visitors at 8:30 PM also on February 9.

Each episode will run for 45 minutes. The Transformers tandem of Sen. Richard Gordon and Bayani Fernando are scheduled on February 16.

Other national candidates were invited to take part in this milestone in voters education.

Candidates and their representatives were given the liberty to choose their preferred timeslot.

Cagurangan said that “with advanced technology, voters can ask questions that will be entertained and answered in real time by the candidates. It will be like talking to them face to face.”

To participate in the Live Chat, registered members can simply log in and type in their questions addressed to the candidate who is online at that time. Queries about the candidate’s platforms and different views on current issues will be answered in real time.

Politicalarena.com is first socio-political networking site designed to promote interactivity in the local political scene.

As one of the official information websites of the Commission on Elections, it provides candidates and voters a venue to communicate with each other using social networking tools such as blog, chat, forum, and multimedia portals. (FREEMAN NEWS)
