BAGUIO City - Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential bet Gilbert Teodoro said he will oppose any move to amend the Constitution if this will create chaos and cause division among the people.

According to Teodoro, he personally supports Charter Change through Constitutional Convention, but if the people reject it he will respect the decision of the majority.

Teodoro, who attended the Flower Festival here, said that the Cha-Cha should be deliberated with sobriety in order to prevent mass actions or another people power.

In Congress, lawmakers are still divided on what mode should be adopted to amend the Constitution. Some are supporting Con-Con while others want Constituent Assembly.
Teodoro prefers Con-Con because it is more practical.

“Con-Con ako kasi maganda ang sistema at mas katangap-tanggap,” Teodoro stressed.

“But if the people are against it, bakit mo susuportahan kung may bahid at hidwaan? Bakit mo pa itutuloy?” he asked.

The former Defense Secretary said that the process of changing the Constitution should always be acceptable to the people.

“Natuto na ako sa proseso, dapat maliwanag sa taumbayan at katanggap-tanggap. Kapag may duda na ang taumbayan, hindi na isusulong iyan,” he added.

Pending in the House of Representatives are House Bill 737, authored by Speaker Prospero Nograles, aimed at amending the economic provisions of the Constitution and the controversial House Resolution 1109 calling all the members of Congress to convene for the purpose of considering proposals to amend the Charter
