MANILA, Philippines – Senator Manny Villar was elated by a recent survey, showing him as the most trusted presidential candidate.
Villar said the Pulse Asia survey from January 22-26 further strengthened his commitment to uplift the lives of the people and his resolve to wage an "issues-based campaign leading to eventual victory in May."
"I am grateful to the Filipino people for continuing to put their trust in me and our candidacy. It can be likened to a report card for public servants like us," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The latest Pulse Asia survey reflects the fruits of our efforts to present a genuine platform of poverty alleviation and economic growth to all Filipinos. At the same time, the trust that our countrymen continue to show us is a challenge to live up to the ideals on which our candidacy is anchored," he said.
"The Pulse Asia survey," Villar said, "strengthened our commitment to uplift the lives of the people and our resolve to wage an issues-based campaign leading to eventual victory in May."
The survey was done at the height of the Senate debate on the ethics case against Villar over his alleged involvement in the anomalous C-5 road project controversy.
Villar faced the Senate to deliver a speech and answer the allegations hurled at him but refused to entertain questions from his fellow senators.
The Senate failed, however, to act on the case when Villar's allies in the minority group boycotted the last day of session.
Politicians break out all this abstractness during elections. What does he mean by "empowerment is the cure to poverty?" Empowerment is the negative opposite of poverty. You can't be needing for anything materially and be a part of the empowered class.
