Sen. Benigno Aquino III could not hide his displeasure towards PCCI forum moderator Tony Lopez, president of the BizNews magazine who used to write for Asiaweek.
"Gusto ko lang mapakita sa mga di aware na di talaga unbiased ang moderator," he said in reaction to some remarks of Lopez who expressed doubts about his competence as a presidential candidate.
Lopez made a sarcastic remark right after the speech of Joseph Estrada.
"That (Estrada) was a man of action while Noynoy is a man of imagination," Lopez said, surprising businessmen and raising eyebrows in the LP camp.
Aquino said he first met Lopez at the wake of his father Ninoy.
He said Lopez wanted to know how the late senator was able to leave the country during the martial law years under the name Marcial Bonifacio.
"Napapaisip ako parang kontra sa amin…noong nakaburol ang tatay ko sa Times, doon ko siya una nakilala naguluhan ako sa tinanong niya sa akin," he said.
"Tinanong niya sino nagbigay ng passport sa tatay ko naglagay ng Marcial Bonifacio. Bakit kailangan malaman yan? Ang consular official bakit kailangan ibuko?" Aquino added.
Aquino even noted several articles that Lopez wrote which heralded Manuel Villar as the next president and saying he (Aquino) had not done anything.
Despite the glitches, Aquino still thanked the PCCI for" giving me opportunity to share a piece of my mind."
"I guess there is an intense dislike for the current situation or the status quo. The choice is yours. Come May 10 we decide, more perpetuation of status quo or join us in changing this country really effectively and sincerely," he said. – Wendell Vigilia
