BRING it on.
Nacionalista party standard bearer Sen. Manuel Villar yesterday accepted the offer of Liberal Party standard bearer Sen. Benigno Aquino III to a one-on-one debate.
"Name the place, name the time, I will be there," Villar said.
However, Villar said he will decline if the purpose of the debate is "to find a platform for senseless argumentation and mudslinging with the hope of calling attention unto oneself."
Aquino immediately called on representatives of his and Villar’s camp to meet to focus on the venue, date, format, and other details of the debate.
Aquino on Monday dared Villar to a no-holds barred debate to give voters the opportunity to compare heir platforms.
The College Editors Guild of the Philippines said it is willing to host the debate.
"The people, especially the youth, are waiting for this face-off, waiting for the Top 2 presidentiables’ stand on issues that concern the youth. Let us see who really has a better platform and position on basic issues," CEGP president Vijae Alquisola said.
Alquisola said among the issues that Aquino and Villar should tackle are education, employment, equality, empowerment, environment, national patrimony and an end to corruption.
