While the camps of leading presidential candidates Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Sen. Manuel “Manny” Villar have been busy attacking each other, the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) of former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada Wednesday claimed it is the one real opposition party running the race for posts in the coming May 10 polls.

“We appear to be the real opposition because we are articulating the real issues of the campaign. A true opposition does not mean that you are only hitting the administration. We hit everyone including those who say they are the opposition,” said Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, a PMP reelectionist.

Enrile issued the statement to shed understanding in public perception, which critics said is encountering troubles identifying which one of the three leading opposition parties is the real deal because of the confusion brought about by the “hate campaign” allegedly being waged by Aquino, the standard bearer of the Liberal Party (LP), and by Villar of Nacionalista Party (NP), against each other.
The rivalry of Aquino and Villar, who were statistically tied in the recent survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS), seemed to have grabbed the spotlight from other presidential candidates like Estrada, Gilbert Teodoro of (Lakas-Kampi CMD), Sen. Richard Gordon, and Bro. Eddie Villanueva of Bangon Pilipinas Movement, among others.

Estrada, who only ranked third after receiving 13 percent in the recent presidential survey of SWS, and his running mates under PMP have been tight-lipped about what he felt about the jumping of his former party mates to LP and NP for the first automated elections
